Coordinator of Instruction

Greg Artman joined the Esperanza team as an Academic Coach when the Cyber School opened its doors in 2012. He is now responsible for the coordination of instruction including teacher support, student academic support, and compiling and analyzing student and testing data in order to constantly improve the academic experience at ECCS.

Greg graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Jersey where his major was Technology Education. His time teaching diverse populations at Sylvan Learning Center and at private, public, and charter schools has fostered his commitment to providing challenging, rewarding, and individualized learning opportunities to prepare students for a successful and productive future.

Director of Academic Programs/Principal - Dr. Carolyn Faulkner-Beitzel

Carolyn Faukner-Beitzel joined Esperanza Academy in 2013 to lead the middle school expansion and other academic initiatives. She is currently the school leader at Esperanza Cyber Charter School managing school operations and leading curriculum development. Carolyn holds PA Principal and Superintendent certificates.

Carolyn was conferred a Doctorate degree from Capella University in Professional Studies specializing in online teaching and learning. She holds a M. S. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania with multiple PA teaching certificates in Social Studies, General Science, Library Media Specialist, and Health. Prior to education, Carolyn was a registered nurse for 18 years. She is married, has an adult daughter living in Brooklyn, and is the loving mom to two chihuahuas.

Chief Executive Officer, Esperanza Charter Schools - Mr. David Rossi

As the CEO for Esperanza Charter Schools, Mr. Rossi oversees all aspects of Esperanza Academy and Esperanza Cyber Charter School, which together serve over 1700 students in grades K-12. Esperanza Academy is expanding to elementary grades and will open a school in 2017 for an additional 138 students.

Prior to joining Esperanza in 2003, Mr. Rossi was the principal at Calvary Christian Academy Junior and Senior High School. He has also served as a teacher, middle school director, athletic director and coach before transitioning fully into educational administration. He holds a Master’s degree in biblical studies from Dallas Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in Bible and secondary education from Cairn University. He is currently studying for a Master's degree.


Guidance Counselor -Mrs. Ellen Tannenbaum

Ellen Tannenbaum joined Esperanza Cyber in the Fall of 2015 as the Guidance Counselor for all ECCS students in grades K-12. She graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College with a Master's Degree in School Counseling and holds a dual certification from Pennsylvania as both an Elementary and Secondary Professional School Counselor. Ellen previously worked in a public school and also as a mobile therapist in her journey to become a school counselor.

Director of Student Development - Ms. Jelissa Carias

Jelissa Carias is welcomed back to Esperanza after a brief stint in Boston. She brings a wealth of experience in working with our school community and families and will excel as our new Director of Student Development.

Family and Community Relations Coordinator - Mr. Fred Estrada

Fred Estrada has been with Esperanza Cyber since it's inception in 2012 and currently serves as the new Family and Community Relations Coordinator.  He is a graduate of Temple University and has extensive experience working with urban youth in Philadelphia. Fred is a Philadelphia native who has a heart for his community and strives to make sure that all Esperanza Cyber students are given the education they deserve.

Special Education Coordinator - Mr. Daniel Cote

Mr. Cote currently works to provide all special education services for the students and families of Esperanza Cyber Charter School.  He is new to the Cyber School this year but he previously worked at Esperanza Academy Charter School since 2005 where he served in the same capacity.

English Second Language Coordinator - Mr. Zachary Devlin

Zach Devlin joined Esperanza Cyber Charter School in 2015 as the ESL Coordinator and ESL Teacher. He graduated from Cairn University with a Master's Degree in Education, adding a certification as a ESL Program Specialist. He grew up in North Philadelphia and has a strong desire to see students grow to be problem-solving citizens who positively impact their local communities.

Director of Information Technology - currently not filled

ACS, Inc. has been given a contract for the school's IT services. We welcome Nimit as our consultant.

Information Technology Specialist - Mr. Tony Hoffman

Tony Hoffman joined Esperanza Cyber in 2016, having come from Esperanza Academy Charter School where he previously worked in IT.
