Welcome to the Esperanza Cyber Charter School Counseling Department! Here at ECCS, we are committed to offering all of our students the support they need to succeed in school and gain the skills needed to become successful members of society.

The School Counseling Department offers various resources and services to help support this goal for every ECCS Student. Our guidance counselors offer support with academics, social/emotional issues, and college/career planning.

Graduation Requirements

  • Apply to at least one college or trade school and/or register for the ASVAB (ASVAB is only if you are considering enlisting in the Military)
  • Minimum 21 Credits
  • Complete Smart Futures requirements
  • Minimum 60 hours of Community Service
  • Meet with counselors to discuss and submit after HS plans
  • Satisfy one of the graduation pathways (Act 158)
  • Check emails, attend classes, and communicate regularly with the counselors and teachers.

What are Credits:

  • In order to graduate from high school, a student would need at least 21 credits
  • Full year classes are worth 1 credit
  • Semester classes and SSP are worth .5 credits
  • You must have credits for the following:
    • 4 English Credits
    • 3 Math Credits
    • 3 Science Credits
    • 3 Social Studies Credits
    • 1 PE/Health Credit
    • 7 Elective Credits

What is Act 158:

  • Act 158 describes the requirements from the state of Pennsylvania
  • Students are expected to demonstrate satisfactory achievement in Biology, Algebra, and Literature through Keystone assessments
  • There are several pathways to meet this criteria and can be found below

Need Working Papers?

The Office of Career & Technical Education is
responsible for issuing working permits for all Philadelphia students ages 14 through 17.

They are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm via phone and email. To request an appointment, please contact them at least one day in advance. If a same-day or drop-in appointment is needed, feel free to contact the front desk or counselor directly to confirm whether a meeting is available.
